Anne's Reforms & Accomplishments
Anne Sung is using her experience to reform HISD to bring an excellent education to every child in every school. Since joining the board in 2017, Trustee Sung has led reform efforts in HISD in her first term on the board, actively engaged in developing stronger governance, budgeting, and student-centered education for HISD.

As a member of the board’s audit committee, Anne has overseen reform of HISD’s internal audit department and implemented best practices to improve budget efficiency. In 2020, the department received the highest rating from the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Money for schools
Anne believes HISD dollars should be spent close to our children. She directed $26.5 million in additional state funding to school budgets so principals can fund teaching assistants, reading coaches, and bilingual education.
Fought to make HISD teacher salaries competitive
Anne has successfully fought to raise teacher salaries by over $6,000 since 2017 to ensure top-quality instruction for students. Continue to prioritize teacher salaries until they are competitive with area districts.

Educating the Whole Child
True education is more than standardized testing. Leveraging federal pandemic recovery funds, Anne successfully advocated to include fine arts, social emotional supports, and wraparound services to support students’ academic and personal growth.
